Emergency Motel Voucher Program
The Emergency Motel Voucher program offers a voucher for a three-day stay in local motels to homeless families with a seriously ill child or homeless individuals who were recently released from the hospital. It's a chance to rest, recover and explore options for more permanent shelter, In 2004, 418 shelter nights were provided, sheltering 72 individuals from 20 households.
The program requires a written or verbal referral from a social service provider. Families must be referred by a case manager from either Foundation for the Homeless or Salvation Army. Individuals must be referred by or provide verification that they have been turned away from Salvation Army Sick Bay.
