Facts about Homelessness in Austin
As of 2008, the last documented homeless point-in-time count, it was estimated that there were over 3,400 homeless individuals in Austin/Travis County on any given night.

The Ending Community Homelessness Organization, with support from the City of Austin, published the Voice of Homeless Persons report in September 2008, which details the results of the biannual count of homeless individuals in our community. The report provides an in-depth look at local homelessness, including an analysis of who is homeless and why. Pages 19-21 of the report summarize what the homeless themselves had to say about a number of topics, including what they would say to the President of the United States and the Mayor of Austin.
